Malaysian Delegation In talks With BOI Over Promoting Malaysian FDI In Sri Lanka

A high profile Malaysian delegation has held discussions with the Board of Investments in Sri Lanka over strengthening trade and investment ties between the two countries.

 

A Malaysian delegation consisting of Tan Li Lung – Counsellor - Malaysian High Commission in Sri Lanka, Shah Nizam - Consul (Trade) Commissioner Malaysia Consulate in Chennai, and Badrul HishamHilal – Vice Consul (Trade) Malaysian High Commission in Colombo recently held discussions with the BOI to develop and promote Malaysian FDI to Sri Lanka.

The delegation met with Dr. Lakshman Jayaweera, Chairman of the BOI and other senior officers of the Board.  The Malaysian side expressed interest in a number of structured projects which BOI and other state institutions developed and launched at the Commonwealth Business Forum held in November 2013.

The projects to be promoted in Malaysia are in variety of sectors including tourism, agriculture including Fish processing, Development of Industrial and IT Parks and Healthcare.  Malaysia is one of the leading investors in Sri Lanka, whose investments have resulted in considerable employment opportunities and revenue to the country, especially in the telecommunication sector.
