Netherlands Keen To Invest In Sri Lanka

Netherland's Deputy Trade Minister Simon Smits expressed their country's interest in investing in Sri Lanka's local market during his four day visit of Sri Lanka.

Smits has showed keen interest in the country's local assets as well as the new emerging financial sector of Sri Lanka. With the increase of foreign investments, the Sri Lankan stock market has recorded a substantial increase in turnover.

'After three decades of civil war we see a significant change in the financial sector of the country. We hope to bring in more investments from the Netherlands to the stock market and share market as well as new development projects. After thirty years of economic deprivation now we see Sri Lanka undergoing a vast economic and development growth spurt in the business sector', he said.

The Dutch expats showed a special interest towards the irrigation, health, agricultural and landscaping sectors of the country.

With their return back to Netherland more investments from the europe area could be expected in the near future.
