Sri Lanka And Myanmar To Further Elevate Good Cooperation In Identified Sectors

Myanmar and Sri Lanka has agreed to take steps to further elevate the Good Cooperation between the two countries in the areas of Tourism, Education and Technical Training as well as Defence and Maritime Cooperation. These emerged during talks Vasantha Senanayake, State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka had with H.E. U Kyaw Tin, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Myanmar, on 04 August 2017 on the sidelines of Grand Celebration in Manila of the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN in Manila.

The two Ministers noted the longstanding friendship between the two countries including in Buddhism and Cultural Linkages. State Minister Senanayake conveyed Sri Lanka's keen desire to intensify cooperation with ASEAN including as a future Sectoral Dialogue Partner and sought Myanmar's support for this intended partnership.  State Minister Senanayake is also representing Sri Lanka at the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) in Manila and is accompanied by Buddhika Pathirana, MP.
