Price Control For Rice Again During The Festive Season

The Ministerial sub-committee on inflation has focus attention to introduce a price control for rice again. As the first step a controlled price of 74 rupees a kilo has been imposed on Nadu variety of rice.

The committee has also decided to import more rice for the convenience of the consumers during the festive season. Private sector business entities have also been allowed to import rice.

Meanwhile Minister Rishad Bathiudeen has instructed the Consumers Affairs Authority to conduct raids to nab the traders who sell essential items at higher prices.
