CCC And EDB Leads Business Team To Indonesia

A Sri Lankan business delegation led by Sri Lanka - Indonesia Business Council of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and the EDB concluded a successful visit to Indonesia during the early part of this month.

The eight member delegation, during their 4 day stay in Indonesia has held several meetings and networking sessions to explore trade and investment opportunities that could be worked off between the two countries. The delegation has also attended a business forum and visited the Indonesian Trade Expo.

During the business forum, the Sri Lankan Ambassador in Indonesia, Anoja Wijesekara has told that Sri Lanka is ready to work with Indonesia for the betterment of the economies of both nations.

The Indonesian trade officials speaking during the occasion has that the trade between the two countries remained just at US$ 30 million during last year and work should be done to enhance this figure.

Speaking during the occasion, Manilal Ranasinghe, a senior executive of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka has invited the Indonesian businesses to invest in Sri Lanka. He has also told the Indonesian business community, that by setting up plants in Sri Lanka, they will be able to easily access the Indian and Pakistani markets, which Sri Lanka has Free Trade Agreements with.

The Forum has also conducted a panel discussion which has been taken part by  several officials of the two countries.  The panel members have outlined the potential business opportunities, both countries can explore in each other’s territories.

Limited, DR. A.S. Sabaratnam, Managing Directorof A.S.  Agri Exports(Private) Limited, DR. A.S. Sabaratnam, Managing Directorof A.S.  Agri Exports(Private) Limited. Anoma Premathilake, a senior official of the Export Development Board was also part of the delegation.
