SriLankan Airlines Increases Frequency To Chennai

SriLankan Airlines the national carrier of Sri Lanka announces an enhancement of its flights to Chennai from Colombo by the addition of a fourth flight. This flight will operate daily from the 16th of April. The addition of this flight brings the total frequency of flights between Sri Lanka and India to 86 flights per week. This announcement reinforces the significance of the Indian market and specifically Chennai for the airline.

The daily flights will each feature an array of bespoke services, world-class in-flight entertainment including a combination of Tamil language programs and signature SriLankan Airlines hospitality services. The purpose of re-launching these flights is to increase frequency of the airline, providing passengers with added convenience.

Commenting on the occasion, Saminda Perera, General Manager Sales Worldwide stated, “Chennai is a key market for us and one of the fastest growing cities in Southern India. While we have always received a strong response from this market, Chennai serves as a key business hub for all multinational corporations. This daily flight will cater to growing business, corporate and leisure demand between Srilanka and Chennai.”

He further added, “The increased frequency also reinforces our commitment to Chennai and will strengthen the deep commercial and bilateral ties between India & Sri Lanka.”

Regional Manager for India, Lalith De Silva said, “Our passengers have welcomed the news that SriLankan Airlines will increase its frequency to the city. With over 225,000 arrivals on SriLankan Airlines from Chennai to Colombo in the past year, the daily flight will appeal to both business and leisure customers providing them with better connectivity to destinations beyond Sri Lanka and more options for their travel convenience."
