The tourists arrivals in May was up by 17.5 percent comparing to last years’ May.

altThe arrivals of tourists to Sri Lanka have been increased in May jumping to 17.5% more than the year 2011, the latest government data revealed today(12).  The rising of tourists was up in every month after ending 30-year old terrorism in May 2009.
 
The data proved that in May 2011 the tourist income was 48,943 and the number of arrivals has been increased up to 57,506 in May 2012 recording a growth in 17.5 percent.
 
Also the country’s Tourists Boarded expects over one million tourists in this years with a revenue of more than 1 billion dollars which will be 20% more than 2011’s revenue of 830 million dollars. 
 
In the past four months of this year Tourist Board has earnings were up by 26% to $340 million.
