The May Day Rally of United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) was held in Town Hall Municipal Grounds in Colombo on Tuesday (01) under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa with a participation of a massive working masses and UPFA supporters. The parades of individual constituent parties of UPFA headed by party leaders forgathered at Town Hall to take part in the main rally.
Addressing the May Day rally President said that no foreign element will ever be granted an opportunity to topple the government elected by people of the county, yet a democratic election can only change the government. Meanwhile President called on all patriots to work together to protect the motherland disregarding the minor and trivial differences.
President also emphasized that main opposition party, UNP was able to hold May Day rally in Jaffna as government was able to establish peace in the country eliminating the terrorism.
