The President of Sri Lanka, Mahind Rajapaksa announced that Colombo Kandy highway will be constructed in 2012 via Kurunegala changing its previous plans of constructing it through Rambukkana.
President informed the Chief Incumbents of Malwatte and Asgiriya Chapters of Siyam Maha Secretion Sect, when he paid a courtesy visit that construction work of Expressway would commence next year as eight top investors have already come forward for the construction work of highway.
President also predicted that construction cost would be less as route has to ascend and descend through less mountainous locations, routed through Kurunegala.
