President addressing the people in Anuradhapura District said the country could be made self-sufficient from milk by uplifting the diary product industry.Speaking further President said as promised in 2011 Budget the taxes on milk powder had been increased in order to protect local dairy farmers and also to save large amount of foreign exchange spent on milk powder importation.
An Era where country is self-sufficient from rice, the maize cultivation also have become self-sufficient so as to export local maize President Mahinda Rajapaksa noted.
