Commonwealth Secretariat assists to develop leather products

altThe Commonwealth Secretariat has expressed its consent to promote the footwear and leather product sector in Sri Lanka, says Udaya Sri Kariyawasam, Chairman, Industrial Development Board.

 
He made this observation at a workshop held for footwear and leather manufacturers on 22nd.
 
Speaking further Chairman said there are about 20,000 people engaged in footwear and leather product industry  in 1248 factories.
 
Sri Lanka has come to the top of apparel industry while footwear and leather product industry too have the opportunity to reach the zenith through quality productions, technology, designs and packing, Chairman noted.
 
The workshop organized by Industrial Development Board was meant to look into the issues that manufacturers’ face. The workshop has been organized with funds provided by the Commonwealth Secretariat.
