Education Minister Bandula Gunawardene says the Ministry has decided to implement a Rule making it compulsory for 80% attendance for GCE (Advanced Level) students to sit for Advanced Level Examination.
According to new Regulations, 80% school days will make a compulsory qualification for an Advanced Level student to apply for the examination.
The decision was taken as majority of students attend private tuition classes during school hours instead of being present in schools.
The Principals have been informed to make students aware of the new Regulation, he noted.
