Sacred Kapilawastu Relics will be brought to Sri Lanka after 30 years for Buddhist devotees to pay homage to the Sacred Relics of Buddha during the commemoration period of 2600 Sambuddhathwa Jayanthi.
The Indian Prime Minister Manamohan Singhe has agreed to the request made by H.E.the President Mahinda Rajapaksa to bring Sacred Relics to Sri Lanka which is deposited in Indian National Museum.
The Relics will travel from India National Museum In New Delhi after the discovery of 113 years ago while first exposition of Relics was made in 1978.
Accordingly, Sacred Relics exposition for public will be opened from 20th August to 5th September 2012.
The venues of Sacred Kapilawastu Relics exposition will be held at :
1. Manelwatte Viharaya Kelaniya 20 – 22 Aug.
2.Siri Sumangala Pirivena Wariyapola 23 – 24 Aug
3.Sri Sambuddathwa Jayanthi Viharaya Anuradhapura 25-26 Aug.
4.Agrabodhi Viharaya Kantalai 27-28 Aug.
5.Sambuddathwa Jayanthi Viharaya Gampola 29 -30 Aug.
6 Rajamaha Viharaya Pelmadulla 31 – 01 Sept
7.Kotikagoda Raja Maha Viharaya Matara 2 – 4 Sept.
