IGP orders to conduct continues search operations against warrantors

Inspector General of Police (IGP) has instructed all Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGs) in relevant Provinces to carry out continues search operations under proper plan, to arrest the warrantors.

Accordingly, search operations will be conducted continuously against warrantors who evade police and instructions have been given to finalize all search operations before 1st of August.

There had been different opinions among public over the failure of arresting Julampitiye Amere who had been issued five warrants earlier and also the main suspect of Katuwana dual murder incident.

Bandula calls for a report on teachers’ attendance on strike day

Educational Minister Bandula Gunawardena states that attendance of teachers and non academic staff on strike day was good, however he will call for a report on teachers attendance on that day from the Ministry of Education while pointing out the island wide strike held on Tuesday (21) as the most unsuccessful strike he had witnessed in his life.
