
Minister of Health Maithreepala Sirisena states dengue menace still remains a threat in areas where population is high despite all efforts made to eradicate and control dengue.
Accordingly, 11,227 dengue patients and 30 deaths were reported from Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Kandy, Kurunegala, Batticaloa, Matara, Kegalle, Puttalam and Ratnapura which are considered as high danger districts for dengue while 50% of them were reported in Western Province this year.
Special projects will be implemented to minimize the spread of dengue with the direct supervision of Chief Endemic Diseases Specialist of Ministry of Health within the next four years.
