Cashew Corporation of Sri Lanka has taken measures to expand cashew nut cultivation in Vavunia, Mannar, Killinochchi, Mullathivu and Anuradhapura districts.
In Anuradhapura district alone nearly 6,000 acres of cashews are cultivated in Mahawilachchiya, Medawachchiya, Mihintale, Thanthirimale and Oyamaduwa areas, the Cashew Corporation said.
The Agrarian Services Department and farmer organizations have organized awareness programmes at grass root levels to collect necessary remedial information with regard to the high production cost in processing and marketing in this connection.
