
Cabinet has given the approval to allocate Rs.2500 million to the proposal made by Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena to develop secondary schools with primary school network.
Under the programme, selected schools made through School Development Committee will be provided with electricity, water, sanitary facilities and renovation work while science laboratories, computers, language room, mathematic room facilities will be provided to selected secondary schools. In addition, existing vacancies in schools will be filled by recruiting sufficient number of mathematics, science, English language, physical science and information technology teachers along with training facilities for them on prioritized basis.
Cabinet has also decided to hand over the contracts on relevant constructions to the contractors in respective areas on the recommendations of District Secretaries while technical advisory services to be obtained from Advisory Bureau.
