The Global Positioning System (GPS) will be introduced by National Transport Commission (NTC) to long distance bus services before the end of this year, NTC Chairman Roshan Gunawardena said.
The system will facilitate the monitoring of speed levels, stoppings at relevant and irrelevant bus stops through satellites.
All long distance buses will be connected to the main control room by a mechanism attached to the buses from where the
signals would be transmitted via satellites to the control room.
The system enables the control room to communicate with drivers for necessary advices, the Chairman said.
