Kohli’s century brought the 1st ODI victory to India.

altAfter a long time break in International Cricket, India claimed another victory of an opening match of an ODI series as claiming a 21-run victory in the 1st ODI match of 5-ODI series played against Sri Lanka at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium in Sooriyawawa, Hambantota on Yesterday (21).

Toss was won by India and Captain Dhoni decided to score first. India scored a powerful target of 314 runs off 6 wickets within 50 overs. Verender Shewag added 96 runs while Virat Kohli scored a century adding 106 runs. SL bowlerm, Thisara Perera took 3 wickets off 70 runs.
Sri Lanka was only able to score 293 runs off 9 wickets in 50 overs as SL players were limited  in low scores by Indian bowlers. However, Kumar Sangakkara made an achievement as scoring 133 runs and the 14 century against India while becoming the 1st player, who scored 1000 runs in 2012.
The man-of-the-match was India’s Virat Kohli. India led the 5-ODI series by 1 to 0 against Sri Lanka after winning the 1st ODI by 21 runs. The second ODI match will be played at the same Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium in Sooriyawawa, Hambantota on 24th of July .
