India successfully test fired its maiden nuclear-capable missile on Thursday achieving a huge step in defence power and gaining the ability to raid major cities in China for the first time. The launching test held off the eastern state of Orissa amidst hundreds of scientist eye sights.
The Agni V has a range of 5,000km and it is a three-stage missile designed to carry a 1.5-ton nuclear warhead. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Defence Minister A.K. Antony congratulated the nation's defence scientists, on their successful launch.
According to reports missile is 17.5 meter-height and with 50 tons of launch weight. Missile was made using Local technology and it stands at a cost of $486 million.
