Modi Pays Last Respects To Dr. Abdul Kalam

Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi paid his last respects to the late former President of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam at Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu.

After paying his respects, Modi went over to meet the family members of Dr. Kalam and spoke with them for a considerable time.

Kalam’s funeral, taking place now at Rameswaram, is also attended by the Tamil Nadu Governor, Union and State Ministers and foreign dignitaries. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa Jeyaram was a notable absentee. She cited health reasons for her absence.

Kalam, a native of Rameswaram, was known as the “Missile Man of India” for his role in India’s nuclear program. Universally accepted as the most popular President in India’s history, he was also known as the “People’s President.”
