Curfew Imposed In Saharanpur After Violent Clashes Between Two Groups

Curfew was imposed in the Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh this morning after violent clashes broke out between two groups, allegedly over construction on a disputed property.

According to reports, many shops and vehicles were vandalised and set on fire as the two groups confronted each other. Several people, including five policemen, were reportedly injured as the protesters clashed and pelted stones at each other.

Senior police officials rushed to the scene of clashes to bring the situation under control. There's massive security deployment in the area now. Personnel of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and the Rapid Action Force (RAF) have reportedly also on been called in.
 According to news agency IANS, traffic on the national highway connecting Ambala was thrown out of gear as the protesters went on the rampage.

A dozen people have reportedly been arrested for inciting violence over the land dispute.
