Roses Are Red...Our Politicians Are...

February 15, 2017

Roses are red, violets are blue, for politicians too.

A Sri Lankan politician who was getting ready for the Valentine’s Day with big plans faced a nightmare.

Two consignments of roses imported for the Valentine Day from Thailand and India had been confiscated at the Bandaranaike International Airport at Katunayake by National Plant Quarantine Service over the weekend.

There were 53 kilos of roses in one consignment while the other had 2,000 flowers.

The airport authorities suspect that the two consignments had been imported by a politician.

Thus, when the authorities questioned the person who came to the airport to clear the two consignments, he contacted a politician over the phone.

According to authorities, the two consignments were scheduled to be burnt as they might have insects and other organisms alien to the country.

The most popular Valentine's Day flowers; red roses are the most expensive during this time of the year naturally.
