Sri Lankan Media Institution's Story On Late Thai King Shows Complete Ignorance Of World History

An article on Neth FM regarding the late Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Sri Lanka's king Pandukabhaya shows complete ignorance of world history.

The article says that Thailand's late king Bhumibol Adulyadej was the longest reigning monarch in history of mankind, and adds that Sri Lanka's Pandukabhaya also reigned for 70 years.

Adulyadej passed away on October 13 after a reign of 70 years and four months.

However, neither of these two are the longest reigning monarchs in the history of mankind. The longest reigning monarch was Sobuzha II of Swaziland who reigned between December 10, 1899 to August 21, 1982. The famous king of France, Louis XIV, reigned for 72 years. According to historical records, there are several monarchs who ruled for over 70 years.
