Kotadeniyawa Schoolboy Requests Police To Return His Possessions

The schoolboy who was arrested and later released over the murder of a five year old girl in Kotadeniyawa has reportedly sent a letter to the Inspector General of Police, requesting to order the Kotadeniwa OIC to hand over his possessions taken by the police with his arrest.

The schoolboy also sent a copy of the letter to President Maithripala Sirisena, local media reported.

Accordingly, his laptop, mobile phone he was using, two other broken mobile phones, several CDs and two SIM cards were taken into police custody when he was arrested on September 16.

Later the police also took his dongle, three hand bands and several amulets he was wearing into custody, the student stated in the letter.

Although the police informed that the laptop was presented to the court, they did not explain what happened to other possessions and what the police are going to do with them, the letter said.

Moreover, the schoolboy said in his letter that his lawyer made a telephone call to Kotadeniyawa Police OIC Sujith Udaya Kumara to inquire about his possessions.

However the OIC disconnected phone, saying that they did not take those items, the letter stated.
