Namal Rajapaksa Arrives At CCD To Give Statement Over Impersonator Phone Call

UPFA MP Namal Rajapaksa arrived at the Colombo Crimes Division a short while ago to give a statement regarding an incident of impersonator phone calls.

Police Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara said that the incident had occurred several years ago.

A person pretending to be Namal Rajapaksa had called the then Sri Lanka Air Force Commander and requested him to authorize the transfer of an Air Force officer. It was later revealed that a former Chairman of Ampara Urban Council was responsible for the act, Gunasekara also said.

A Magisterial Inquiry is already underway regarding the incident.

The Magistrate has ordered the police to obtain a statement from Namal Rajapaksa, ASP Gunasekara said.
