Case Against Hirunika Premachandra On Alleged Illegal Occupation Of Building Fixed For March 29

The case regarding the alleged illegal occupation of an office building filed against UNP MP Hirunika Premachandra and her mother was fixed to be heard on March 29 by the Colombo District Court.

The plaintiffs, Roshan Wickrama and Ruwan Wijesekara, have filed this case regarding a building in Kolonnawa against Sumana Premachandra and Hirunika Premachandra.

The plaintiffs said that they have handed over this building to the late Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra in April 2011, for his political work at his request, After the demise of Premachandra, the owners have requested for the return of the building. However, the building was not handed back to the owners.

In 2015, the plaintiffs had sent a letter of demand to Hirunika Premachandra and her mother for the return of the building. They said that the building was being illegally occupied effective from August 1, 2015, as it was not handed over as requested.

The plaintiffs also said that they were incurring a loss of Rs 50,000 per month due to the illegal possession of the building.
