Three suspects have been arrested over the death of a 13-year-old girl in Mawathagama.

The girl's body was discovered at an abandoned house in Palgaspitiya, Mawathagama last night.

Her family and residents of the area launched a search yesterday when the girl had failed to return home after she left her home in the morning.

Police said that the body was found inside the kitchen of the house and that the cause of death has not been ascertained yet. The house was located close to her home.

Mawathagama Police is conducting further investigations.
