False Scare On 'Child With HIV/AIDS' Forces Closure Of Kuliyapitiya School

A school in Kuliyapitiya was effectively closed yesterday because parents did not sent their children to school following the rumour that an AIDS-infected child was enrolled to the first grade.

The parents had hurriedly removed their children from following the news that the particular child had been enrolled with the school.

The child could not get enrolled with any school because of the rumour that he had contracted HIV/AIDS. It has been confirmed that he is healthy.

A meeting between the parents of students, teachers, the Department of education, officials of the Department of Health and human rights officials has been organized for 2nd of March to discuss the incident.
