"Muslims Have A Different Law In Aluthgama: Police Live In Mosque"- BBS

The controversy which arose in Aluthgama has demonstrated that the Police follow a "different law" in areas where there is a Muslim majority, General Secretary of Bodu Bala Sena Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera said.

Speaking to Asian Mirror, Gnanasara Thera said the Police had failed to take action against those who allegedly assaulted a Buddhist monk who was attending an alms-giving.

"We know that the majority of Police officers in Aluthgama reside in mosques. They had asked the Buddhist monk, who was assaulted by Muslims, to stay calm. What sort of law implementation process is that?" Gnanasara Thera questioned.

He also added that some Muslims are waiting to be attacked by the BBS.

"They want us to attack them and create a huge drama over that. We are not ready to fall into their traps. It was the BBS who resolved the matter yesterday. However, if they want to keep testing our patience we too have a  remedy for that," the BBS General Secretary asserted. He flatly refuted the allegations that the BBS 'incited' the tense situation yesterday.

"We are ready to take action against Police officers who reside in mosques!" he warned.

Meanwhile, sources close to the Muslim youth who got involved in the issue yesterday categorically stated that there was no 'assault' on the Buddhist monk, but an exchange of unpleasant words. They said the monk had lodged a false complaint at the Aluthgama police station.
