A significant police presence was seen some areas in Colombo this morning to avoid any disturbance.
Although a large number of Muslim shops were closed in the district of Vavuniya, the shops belonging to Tamils were open and functioning as usual.
Speaking to Asian Mirror, a representative of the Muslim Traders Association in Vavuniya said the government should take immediate action to arrest those who were involved in what he termed as 'violence against Muslims'.
