Senior DIG Instructed Crimes OIC Not To Investigate Discovery Of Thajudeen's Wallet, Court Informed

The lawyers of Narahenpita former Crimes OIC Sumith Perera today told Colombo Magistrate Courts that the Crimes OIC was instructed by a Senior DIG not to investigate into the discovery of Thajudeen's wallet at a different location.

The Senior DIG has said that a different team was investigating the matter, the lawyers said.

The CID informed the court that they have recorded six statements from the Crimes OIC. There were contradictions in his statements, the CID also told.

Although the death was recorded as an accident, the traffic department of the Narahenpita Police was not allowed to probe the incident, the CID said. The Crimes OIC has not called for a report from the Motor Vehicle Commissioner and had not prepared the vehicle for the Government Analyst to carry out an analysis.

The lawyers representing Sumith Perera informed that he had done what was needed as per instructions.

Additional Magistrate Augusta Attapattu further remanded the suspect till May 12.
