Buddhist Monks Suspend Satyagraha Campaign For Rajapaksa's Security

The 'Pavidi Handa' organization has suspended the Satyagraha campaign it had planned for May 15 in Galle, to urge the government to grant army security for former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Muruththettuve Ananda Thera made this comment this morning during a press conference at the Abhayarama Temple.

The decision was taken after President Maithripala Sirisena granted a discussion for the Pavidi Handa organization over the matter, Ananda Thera also said.

103 army personnel who were attached to the former President's security were removed by the government on May 2 and the STF was assigned in their place.
