Former MP Sajin de Vass Gunawardena was remanded until July 5 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya over forcibly getting a businessman to write cheques to the value of Rs 610 million to him.

Gunawardena was arrested earlier in the day by the CID.
