Both Attacks On President's Website Likely Carried Out By Local Hackers: Investigators

The hacker attacks on the President's official website on both Thursday and Friday could have been the work of local hackers, Computer Emergency Readiness Team has said.

The attack on Thursday evening was done by someone by the name of Youth of Sri Lanka, and posted an announcement in opposition to the holding of the GCE A/L exam in April.

The second attack on Friday was claimed by a Bangladeshi hacker. However, it is thought that this was a ploy to mislead investigators.

The site is now in operation as usual.
