Wimal Threatens To Quit Government Due To Ramaphosa's Visit

NFF leader Wimal Weerawansa has threatened  to quit the government in protest of the visit of South African special envoy to Sri Lanka Cyril Ramaphosa . The Sri Lankan government has invited Ramaphosa with the aim of setting up a truth and reconciliation commission to look into the grievances of parties who were affected by the three decades long war.

The Sri Lankan government say the formation of truth and reconciliation commission comes as part of implementing LLRC recommendations. 

Cyril Ramaphosa is also the Deputy President of the African National Congress (ANC) and he will be visiting France prior to the visit in Sri Lanka.

Special Representative Ramaphosa is to meet the external affairs minister G L Peiris on July 8 and top level government delegation on July 9  to hold discussions regarding the form of  truth and reconciliation committee.
