Meethotumulla, Kolonnawa garbage dumpsite clearance programme is to be started within 100 days, UNP MP S.M. Marikkar said.

He stated this during a public gathering held in Kolonnawa yesterday.

Marikkar further stated that "garbage was dumped there forcefully making lives of the locals unbearable. Prime Minister and I promised to solve this issue. The initial steps to resolve the garbage issue are already taken. Within couple of months Meethotumulla, Kolonnawa garbage dumpsite clearance programme will be started. As the first step within 100 days dumping garbage at the site will be stopped. After that we will close down the whole site."

He also claimed that within the next 100 days, 85 percent of the issue will be resolved.
