Charge Sheet Served On Namal Rajapaksa In Contempt Of Court Case

The charge sheets were served on UPFA MP Namal Rajapaksa in the contempt of court case filed by the Bribery Commission in the Supreme Court.

The case is considered before a three member bench comprising of Chief Justice K. Sripavan and Supreme Court Justices Priyasath Dep and Buwaneka Aluvihare.

The Director General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption filed the case at the Supreme Court against UPFA MP Namal Rajapaksa on June 30.

The Commission has informed court that Rajapaksa had repeatedly ignored summons given to him to appear at the commission to obtain statements on ongoing investigations. The Commission argues that this action by Rajapaksa is a contempt of court under Article 20 (3) (a) of the Bribery Act.

The case was fixed for November 30.
