President's "Wanna-be" Relative Swindles Russian Businessman

The Colombo Fort Magistrate today ordered the CID to conduct an investigation against a Sri Lankan who had allegedly swindled a Russian investor of US$ 690,000 while impersonating as a relative of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The Russian investor Alexander Nikolove had lodged a complaint in this regard at CID urging a necessary legal action be taken against the rackerteer who identified himself as a "son-in-law" of Sri Lankan President.

The complainant alleged that the suspect promised him to provide two blocks of lands from Colombo 02 and Maharagama areas and obtained a sum of US$690,000. He told the CID the deeds and other documents given to him by the suspect were fake and they were not registered at Land Registry Office.
