President Tells University Students Not To Disrupt Education

February 17, 2017

President Maithripala Sirisena has asked university student unions not to engage in activities that disrupt their education.

The President asked students to be patient until discussions are concluded and a solution found.

Local university students have been protesting the private medical college – SAITM, and are asking for its closure.

The issue came to the fore when the Court of Appeal on January 31, ruled SAITM degrees as ‘lawful’ and worthy of Sri Lanka Medical Council accreditation.
