‘Will Go To Court Against Burkas Worn By Muslim Women’: BBS

Body Bala Sena General Secretary Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera said he would go to court against allowing Muslim women to wear burka in public.

“There has to be one law in the country. You cannot have a different law for the Muslims,” Gnanasara Thera said, addressing a press conference in Colombo yesterday.

He said the Police have no qualms about arresting those wearing full-face helmets but the same rule did not apply to the Muslim women who wear burkas.

He added that even Buddhist monks should start covering their faces against the double standards adopted by the police.

Commenting on the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Sri Lanka, Gnanasara Thera said the patriots in the country had a suspicion about the ulterior motives of the visit.

“It’s like distributing liquour in the guise of a dansala,” the Thera said, justifying the statement made by Wimal Weerawansa to hoist black flags in protest of Modi’s visit.
