Human Bones Recovered From Shangri La Construction Site: Land Previously Belonged To SL Army

Several human bones were recovered from a construction site belonging to the Shangri La Hotel, in Colombo. 

The construction site is located close to the Galle Face Green. 

The land previously belonged to the Sri Lanka Army. 

he Hong Kong based Shangri La leisure group bought 10 acres of the prime seafront property for $125 million for the purpose of constructing a luxury hotel, under the previous government. 

Police inquiries are underway to trace the history of the human bones. It is reported that the Police will also seek the assistance of the Government Analyst Department. 

However, before the establishment of the Army Headquarters and the Galle Face Green the area was used by the British as a cemetery.
