MR's Effigy Burnt In A Protest In India

The AIADMK  has conducted a protest on August 3 condemning the Sri Lankan government's conduct and President Mahinda Rajapaksa's rule.

Members belonging to the AIADMK on Sunday staged a protest in front of the Trichy Government Hospital by burning the effigy of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, condemning his government over the derogatory comments posted about Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa on the island nation's defence ministry website.

Seven members of the organization has burnt the effigy of the Sri Lankan president while shouting anti-Sri Lankan slogans.

The police have rushed to the location and had controlled the situation.

On a similar incident, Makkal Janayaga Kudiarasu Katchi and V Sathiakumaran, 28, district organizer of the Tamil Nadu Maanavar Koottamaippu were arrested by the police for damaging the window panes of a SriLankan Airlines office situated near the Central Bus Stand.

The situation arose when the Sri Lankan defence website published a news article on August 1  titled, “How meaningful are Jayalalitha's love letters to Narendra Modi?”. The article was accompanied by a picture of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa holding a pen and writing, a thought bubble (in the shape of a heart) with PM Narendra Modi’s picture on it.
