Rajitha Seeks Legal Advice To Sue Gnanasara Thera

Minister Rajitha Senaratne has sought legal advice to sue BBS General Secretary Galagodaaththe Gnansara Thera over the “slanderous” statements the latter made against him at a press conference in Colombo yesterday.

The Minister, speaking to media today, said Gnanasara Thera should substantiate his allegations with concrete allegations before court.

Minister Senaratne flatly denied allegations against him saying he was never involved in any sort of drug scam, as alleged by the BBS General Secretary. Gnanasara Thera yesterday said that the politician was transporting “kerala ganja” in his BMW vehicle.

The Minister also alleged that Gnanasara Thera disrobed himself at the temple in his village and re-entered the Bhikku community on his own, after coming to Colombo.

Meanwhile, speaking to media yesterday, the BBS General Secretary said he had informed law enforcement authorities of the country of the alleged malpractices committed by Minister Seneratna while being a minister in the present government.

Senaratne has been a strong critique of the Bodu Bala Sena and other hardcore Sinhala-Buddhist organizations over the past two weeks.  The BBS, in response, accused Senaratna of working against the interests of the Sinhala-Busshist community of the country.
