Thusitha Halloluwa Resigns From Position Over Rs. 1.5 Million Breakfast Bill: Says Duminda Constantly Interfered In His Work

September 25, 2017

Chairman of the Colombo Commercial Fertilizer Limited Chairman Thusitha Halloluwa resigned from his position in protest of Agriculture Minister Duminda Dissanayake's conduct.

The Agriculture Minister's instruction to pay a monstrous breakfast bill amounting to Rs. 1.5 million has been cited as one of the main reasons for his resignation.

The breakfast bill is an expense of an event hosted by an institution coming under the Agriculture Ministry.

Halloluwa said he was not in a position to discharge his duties in a free environment due to constant interfering by the Minister.

Halloluwa is a close associate of Media and Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera and is also a Working Director of the Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation.

Dissanayake is a confidante of President Maithripala Sirisena and holds the General Secretary post of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
