The Colombo Fort Magistrates’ Court this morning issued an order banning university students from entering government buildings during their anti-SAITM protest today.

The ban specifically bans the Inter-University Students’ Federation (IUSF), the Inter-University Bhikku Front (IUBF) and the Medical Students’ Action Committee.

On June 21, students led by various student bodies stormed the Health Ministry premises during an anti-SAITM protest and caused damage to public property.

The students are asking that the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine is abolished and state education is protected.
