SriLankan Airlines Staffer Arrested With Gold Valued At Rs. 26 Million: BIA Customs Conduct Arrest

A Sri Lankan Airlines staffer was arrested by the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) Customs this morning with gold worth Rs. 26 million.

The 5.3 kilogrammes of gold were hidden in a belt strapped to his leg, BIA Customs said.

Gold, jewellery, gems and other precious items are restricted items as per the BIA Customs and must be declared before being brought into the country.

The SriLankan Airlines staffer will be produced before the Katunayake Magistrates’ Court.
