Railway Strike Scheduled For Midnight Postponed: Unions Call Off Strike After Talks With Transport Minister

The railway strike scheduled for midnight tonight (20) has been called off.

The strike was postponed after talks with Transport and Civil Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva.

Trade unions attached to the railways had scheduled the strike as a follow up to the strike called on October 11.

On October 11, drivers and conductors attached to Sri Lanka Railways called an unannounced strike stranding thousands of commuters.
