SSP Colombo Central Responsible For Upul Jayasooriya's Security - Magistrate

Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya today ordered the SSP  Colombo Central to take responsibility for Bar Association President Upul Jayasooriya's security. 

He ordered the SSP to provide security to the BASL President until the next hearing of the case on August 11.

Although he Colombo Chief Magistrate ordered Retired Major General Nanda Mallawarachchi, Secretary of the Ministry of Law and Order, to appear before court today he was not present as he was out of the country.

Senior DIG Anura Senanayake too is to be present before the Colombo Chief Magistrate on August 11. The Magistrate made this order after taking into consideration a motion filed by the Sri Lanka Bar Association over its President Upul Jayasooriya's security. 
 
Jayasooriya had lodged Police complaints over unidentified groups who were following him. He also alleged that Police had not taken measures to ensure his security.
