Christina Peiris Makes It To Top 16 At Miss Universe: Miss South Africa Crowned Miss Universe 2017

Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Universe Christina Peiris was placed among the Top 16 at the Miss Universe 2017 pageant that was held in Las Vegas last night.

She is the first ever Sri Lankan to place in the Miss Universe contest in the 21st century; the last being 2nd runner-up Maureen Hingert in 1955.

Christina was born on January 29, 1994 and is a fashion model as well as a fashion designer with her own humanitarian brand X.TINA.

Christina, who lost her mother and both her grandparents to cancer, donates a percentage of her proceeds to cancer care in Sri Lanka.

 Meanwhile, Miss South Africa Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters was crowned Miss Universe, while Miss Columbia – Laura González and Miss Jamaica – Davina Bennett were crowned first and second runners-up at the pageant respectively.
